Fibromyalgia

The diagnosis of fibromyalgia should be established to differentiate it from other disorders that can be treated more specifically, e.g. inflammatory rheumatic disorders, hypothyroidism, and menopausal symptoms. The patient’s false preconceptions and ideas about the causes of the symptoms are assessed. Factors that aggravate the symptoms should be explored. All patients should have an individually tailored treatment plan. Physical training should be encouraged as good muscle strength and endurance fitness reduce the symptoms of fibromyalgia .
